Kicking Ice : A Graphic Novel About Women's Hockey
Created by Stephanie Phillips
Kicking Ice is about two young, female hockey players, Bella and Skye, learning to play hockey and dreaming of one day playing in the National Women’s Hockey League (NWHL). Unfortunately, Bella and Skye deal with bullies who think that playing hockey isn’t for girls. Of course, Bella and Skye prove that kicking ice isn’t just for boys. This project is a celebration of women in sports and the amazing progress of the many pioneers who are helping to make professional women's hockey a reality.

We are so excited to help support Jamie Jones' newest Kickstarter campaign, THE BABOON. Jamie, the artist behind KICKING ICE, has created an all-ages graphic novel about action, adventure, and milkshakes, of course. Jamie's project is live on Kickstarter now. With your help, we can fund this project and bring THE BABOON and his friends to life. Maybe one day Monkey Bones (the Baboon's sidekick) will even star in an adventure with Bella and Skye!

Kicking Ice's very own Jamie Jones just launched a new book on Kickstarter called The Baboon. The Baboon is a 60-page, hardcover adventure story that pays homage to the pulp stories of the 40s and 50s. This all-ages story features both artwork and words by Jamie, and is available on Kickstarter now with some awesome backer rewards!
To the world at large, The Baboon is a nothing more than a government myth. A figure of the shadows taking down evils wherever they lurk. To his crew -three of the greatest heroes of their time- he is a man of daring and compassion, who will stop at nothing to defend the world from the greatest evils known to man. But, to his adopted nephew, Jamie, Barton Marlow - The Baboon- is the coolest guy in the whole world. And now in his new life of adventure, Jamie wrestles with being the regular kid he once was and living up to his uncle's expectations. A man whose fantastic exploits are unequaled for narrow escapes, fantastic adventures, and endless thrills.

Thank you all for sharing pictures of the books as you receive them! We are overwhelmed by the positive reactions and adorable photos you have shared with us.
Shipping to backers is still ongoing, so don't worry if you have not received your order yet. The Thanksgiving holiday will pause shipping progress a bit as the team travels with family, but the shirts and jerseys will be the next set of orders to leave HQ.
We also have some exciting announcements headed your way very soon. Stephanie and Jamie are involved in something top secret for the NWHL Goalie Development Camp taking place in Florida from December 14-16.
And if one secret wasn't enough, we were also lucky enough to have a fan-favorite Buffalo Sabre autograph some Kicking Ice swag that we are going to give away from our social media accounts.
Be sure to follow our social media accounts for information about the giveaway in the coming weeks!
