Kicking Ice : A Graphic Novel About Women's Hockey

Kicking Ice is about two young, female hockey players, Bella and Skye, learning to play hockey and dreaming of one day playing in the National Women’s Hockey League (NWHL). Unfortunately, Bella and Skye deal with bullies who think that playing hockey isn’t for girls. Of course, Bella and Skye prove that kicking ice isn’t just for boys. This project is a celebration of women in sports and the amazing progress of the many pioneers who are helping to make professional women's hockey a reality.

Surveys Sent!

You should all getting notifications about responding to the backer survey for Kicking Ice! The survey will ask you for the address you want your Kickstarter rewards sent to, as well as any information that we need to fulfill your order (shirt sizes, cover of choice, and any items you might want to add to your order). The faster we have all of these responses in, the faster we can fulfill orders.
The book itself is in the finishing stages. We are working with the printer to receive test copies of the book in the next couple of weeks. Once we approve the samples, the full printing process will take place. We will keep everyone updated on that progress as we go.

All Kicking Ice pages have been inked!
That's right... ALL 58 pages of the Kicking Ice story have been inked.
What does this mean?
The interior of the book is almost entirely complete! Marissa Louise has been hard at work providing color to the interior pages, and we are more than halfway through the coloring process.

Nail Wrap Video

Our custom Kicking Ice nail wraps arrived at Ominous Press HQ! These awesome wraps were made by Espionage Cosmetics and sport the Thunder logo worn by Bella and Skye in the book. The wraps also glow-in-the dark!

The wraps are self-adhesive, meaning there is no heat or other products necessary to apply them.
You only need a nail file and a clear coat of polish (optional) to apply the wraps.
Stephanie decided to make a video to show off how easy it is to apply the wraps and how awesome they look once applied!

Jim Starlin's Art Book and Illustrated Novella

As you probably know, we have a really awesome publisher. Ominous Press is responsible for helping many great creators make their projects a reality. We just wanted to take a moment to recognize another great Ominous Press project currently on Kickstarter: Jim Starlin's Art Book and Illustrated Novella. The legendary Jim Starlin, creator of Thanos, the Infinity Gauntlet, Drax, Gamora, and many more, is joining with Ominous Press to release Black Book: The Art of Jim Starlin, and an illustrated prose novella called Mindgames.

Convention Updates

What a weekend! The team is back from an awesome time at Nickel City Con in Buffalo, NY. There is a lot to be excited about and thankful for right now. We are grateful to the convention for supporting this project and having us out. Clearly, they put on a great show and we are honored to have been a part of it. We also have to give our publisher, Ominous Press, a huge thank you for taking care of us all weekend. None of this would be possible without them. And, of course, we are overwhelmed by the turnout of hockey and comic fans at the convention. We loved talking to you all. Buffalo is an awesome hockey city! Thanks for making us feel so welcome.

What's next? Well, after the team gets a solid two days of sleep, Jamie and Stephanie are headed to Orlando, FL for MegaCon. Look for Kicking Ice at the Monkeys Fighting Robots booth (3623).
