3 Days, 2 New Stretch Goals

With three days left in the campaign, we have met our third stretch goal! This means that all copies of Kicking Ice will come with added pages filled with information about the history of women's hockey, as well as artwork from the desks of our creators. We have an amazing list of writers and artists contributing to this section of the book, which will contain information about the National Women's Hockey League, Olympic hockey, the Canadian Women's Hockey League, and much more. 

Since you helped us blast through that stretch goal so quickly, we have added a couple more goals that we think you'll really enjoy. 

Hardcover Art

We also have an update on color for the cover that we will use for the hardcover edition of Kicking Ice. The cover art is by Amanda Conner and Dave Johnson. We are so thrilled and thankful to have two amazing artists contributing to this campaign.

Amanda Conner Cover Reveal!

With just 5 days left in the campaign, we have an extremely exciting cover reveal. Known for her work with Marvel, Image, and DC Comics, such as her most recent run on Harley Quinn, it is an honor to have artist Amanda Conner create a cover for Kicking Ice. 

Amanda's beautiful cover will serve as the cover for all hardcover copies of Kicking Ice. Softcover editions will get the choice between two NWHL covers created by Lee Moder. 

We will reveal final cover colors later this weekend and we hope you are as excited about these covers as we are!

Gold for Team USA

Last night's gold medal game was a whirlwind of emotions. Coming from a 2-1 deficit in the second period, the US sent the game to sudden death overtime with a goal from Monique Lamoureux with under seven minutes left in the game. 

Both Canada and the US remained scoreless in overtime despite a dominate 20 minutes from team USA. Moving to a shootout, each team selected 5 shooters in a best-of-five matchup. With both the US and Canada scoring twice (US goals by Amanda Kessel and Gigi Marvin), the shootout moved to sudden death where a hero emerged for team USA. 

Jocelyne Lamoureux-Davidson, with one of the most beautifully dirty goals imaginable, sank her shot behind Canadian goaltender Shannon Szabados and brought gold to the US for the first time in 20 years. 

The game was a true display of some of the best ice hockey in the world. Congratulations to team USA on their gold medal and to Canada for taking home the silver. Both are truly amazing accomplishments that came as the result of a hard-fought battle on the ice.

Boston Metaphysical Society: The Scourge of the Mechanical Men 

A continuation of the six issue mini-series about an ex-Pinkerton detective, a spirit photographer, and a genius scientist who battle supernatural forces in late 1800s Boston. This 34 page standalone story features Granville Woods and Nikola Tesla who are forced to work together when a new menace threatens Boston. Written by Madeleine Holly-Rosing with art by Gwynn Tavares.

 Xenoglyphs: The Complete Series

Xenoglyphs, by Omar Saphi and PJ Catacutan, follows Steven James and his best friend Dom Jenkins as they try to stop Anubis, the master of evil, from collecting all nine Xenoglyphs. Xenoglyphs are stones that each control a different elemental power, and if a person holds a stone they control that element. The stones have been the world's greatest secret and have managed to stay separated all this time. But, the evil Anubis has resurfaced with one goal: to collect all nine stones and remake the world in his image.
